The People Along The Way

The People Along The Way

The people we have met along this journey are by far the best part of Salty Britches.  We are often at Ultra Races in obscure places.  Many of the incredible people we have met along the way have been at races, working aid stations, working the Salty Britches tent, etc.

In 2021, this young fella walked up to our tent to tell us how much he loved Salty Britches.  We knew within the first 5 mins that Brogan Bannister was special. . He carried a light with him.  You could see it in his smile.  Brogan was friendly, kind, and easy to get to know.  He would run an aid station that year, not yet ready to tackle the grueling 100 miler known as the GA Jewel.  He also helped rescue a young man that was bitten by a copperhead during that race!  Brogan has a knack for serving others which he has leaned into.  He has carried that into creating his own race, the Mental Health Ultra.  You can find it on Ultra Sign Up scheduled for Nov 16, 2024 in Newnan, GA.

The next year, Brogan ran that 100 miler.  He also participated in the infamous Mid State Mile in TN.  Then he did something that really made him stand out.  He volunteered to fly to Austin, TX, taking time off of work, to help work a trade show for Salty Britches.  That's where we really got to see Brogan shine.  He did not meet a stranger and he helped call out all the people we needed to know.  It was impressive to see his God given talent on display.  We quickly learned that Brogan has zero fear of trying something, zero fear of failing, and has an entire tribe of people in his corner.

Brogan wasn't afraid to start ultra running, and in that community he built important friendships.  He met a runner, Matt Magardo, who he befriended.  No shocker, Matt also saw something special in Brogan.  He convinced Brogan to move from Atlanta to Maui and work for their company.  But really, it was because Brogan is not afraid to try something new and fail or succeed!  His faith is strong.  He recently told us on our podcast that he learned from his late Granddaddy, "Is prayer your windshield or your spare tire?"  Who was Brogan putting his trust in afterall?

We consider Brogan an honorary Tucker.  We are in his corner and are thrilled he is in ours.  Good people that want you to succeed just show up and do, expecting nothing in return.  That's Brogan all the way.  Brogan, keep letting that light shine and serving others.  The Good Lord has blessed you with gifts beyond measure.
